Altaline Capital Management today announced that funds it advises have completed a strategic growth investment in Risk & Regulatory Consulting (RRC), a leading independent provider of actuarial, financial/IT, compliance, and related professional services to insurance regulators across the United States.
Founded in 1988, RRC employs close to 160 professionals and supports insurance departments across 44 states and jurisdictions. Co-CEOs LeeAnne Creevy and Tricia Matson will continue to lead the firm, with Altaline supporting RRC’s continued growth and investment in the credentialed specialists needed to meet the increasingly complex demands facing insurance regulators.
John Haley, former CEO of Willis Towers Watson, and Ellen Charnley, former President of Marsh Captive Solutions, will join RRC’s board through the Altaline Executive Network.
For Altaline, RRC represents the firm’s fourth platform investment in the last twelve months within its Compliance, Safety & Risk thematic initiative, continuing its focus on mission-critical services businesses with deep technical expertise, durable customer relationships, and opportunities for long-term growth.

Altaline today announced the formation of Ascend Safety Collective, a newly formed platform that brings together leading local elevator maintenance and repair services companies serving commercial, government, and industrial customers across the country.
Ascend was built on a simple conviction. Elevator services is an essential, mission-critical category defined by technical expertise, long-standing customer relationships, and decades of local operating know-how. The best way to build a national platform in this market is to back the regional operators who already set the standard for quality in their geographies and give them the resources, talent, and infrastructure of a larger organization.
The platform is designed to continue the strong service legacies of the businesses it partners with. Rather than absorbing companies into a centralized brand, Ascend preserves what makes each operator great while investing in the systems, training, and reach that come with scale.
As part of the launch, Ascend is implementing broad-based equity across its entire partner base. This reflects a core principle of the platform: the people who built these businesses, and the teams who run them every day, should share in the value they continue to create.
Ascend is also welcoming two seasoned operators to its Board of Directors. Dennis Mason, former CEO of Kings III, and Chip Smith, co-founder of ATIS, bring decades of experience leading safety-critical, multi-site service businesses and will help guide Ascend as the platform grows.
For Altaline, Ascend reflects a thesis the firm has been building against since inception: partnering with operators in essential service categories where local relationships, technical depth, and a long-term orientation drive enduring value.
Altaline Capital Management is pleased to share that Managing Director Rafael Telahun was featured on Deloitte's IMpact podcast, hosted by Reese Blair.
Rafael discusses how private equity firms drive value through hands-on operational support, including Altaline's "hybrid" approach that helps management teams execute time-bound transformation plans without overloading already-busy leaders. The conversation covers value-creation levers such as embedded financial services, third-party integrations, monetizable data and benchmark products, and community-building through certifications and conferences.
He closes with two imperatives: fully integrating operating professionals into incentives and key decisions, and securing upfront management alignment on the 180-day and one-year agenda.
